My name is Sophie Davila and I am the founder of College Application Consulting. After several years on the other side of college admissions (reading, reviewing, and admitting students), I realized students and their families needed my expertise during this incredibly exciting but stressful time. Having guided students (including my own stepdaughter) through this process with my data-driven approach, I am here to help you navigate this road. My Story
After completing my Ph.D. in chemistry, I worked at several top-tier institutes where I was actively involved in the admission process for highly competitive programs. During this time, I have read and reviewed hundreds of resumes, personal statements, and supplemental essays. Trust me when I say I know what a good essay looks and sounds like! As a member of the admission panel, I finalized student selection for admission and scholarship opportunities. Understanding what schools seek in their prospective students allows me to help my students to submit competitive and compelling application.
Essay writing is the aspect that students find the most daunting, but this doesn't have to be the case. As a professional writer for a large biotechnology company, I will help brainstorm, structure, and edit essays so that your personality and qualities shine through and ensure you stand out from a crowded application process.
I work closely with my students and their families to guide them through each step of the process with frequent meetings, a personalized plan, resources and templates and shared timelines - you can rest assured nothing will get lost in the mix. Due to the high-touch service, I work with a limited number of students each year to ensure I can give each student and family the time and support they need.
My services encompass all parts of the college admission process from high school course selection and extracurricular activity planning for Freshmen and Sophomores, thoughtful planning and preparing for Juniors to application and essay completion for Seniors. Additionally, I provide guidance and support to my students interested in Honors College or unique programs that are suited to their academic interests.
